Tom Harris is the founder and a Principal in Colorado Lifestyle Real Estate. After a 20 year career in commercial real estate, he and his family moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado in the mid 1990s where he then focused on resort real estate.

"There was a real disconnect in resort real estate. Unlike commercial real estate where agents specialize in office, retail, industrial and land (and some even specialized further by representing only tenants or landlords) resort real estate was a complete free for all.

"There had to be a better way for people to get the service they deserved and get connected to the best Realtor to help them. It worked in commercial real estate - why couldn't it work in resort real estate?

"After much research, I realized a few things:

1. Most people think Realtors are all about the same.

2. Many people select a Realtor for all the wrong reasons.

3. There was no referral company anywhere that actually qualified Realtors. Any agent could join their network for $39 to $69 a month; regardless of experience, competency or capability.

4. Effectively qualifying Realtors is a long, arduous process and many people have neither the time nor inclination to do it.
